Real Autism

Helena and her son. Both are on the spectrum. ICAA Real Autism Picture Project 2013

During the first weeks of January, many of our members and friends in the community shared  information and pictures for the Real Autism project. The Real Autism project is one of many positive ways in which the ICAA has answered to hurtful misrepresentation of autism in the media.  We will continue other projects throughout the year.  As always, we encourage members and friends to use our voices any time autism is misrepresented. Thank you for your beautiful submissions!

Matthew S. College student, loves music. He says, “When I was diagnosed at the age of two, I couldn’t respond when a person called my name, I couldn’t use my hands together, and a few other things, yet I could count to 100. That was in 1994. After years of occupational therapy and parental involvement, I have ascended to levels beyond any had hoped.”
